I Woke Up Thinking This ...

I woke up one morning in my cozy RV bed, somewhere under trees in beautiful America, with a deep awe of God overflowing my morning-fresh mind. I could think of nothing else. The wonder of who God is tried to fit into my limited understanding, and all I could do was reach for pen and paper.
Too many times I've not listened when God spoke. It's easy to overrule the moment of extraordinary awareness of God. I know you do it as well . . . Gone is the touch of heaven when we simply give a yawn, get up like usual, and sip the morning coffee while reading the latest news.
I don't want to lose those moments any more. I know you don't either. They are holy, God-breathed, and personal.

He is a Man of war
yet kind
He is the Righteous Judge
yet longsuffering
His anger is fierce
yet He was like a sheep led to slaughter
He shakes the earth with thunder and lightning
yet speaks gently in the hearts of his creation
He formed the mighty whales of the ocean
yet teaches us wisdom from the ants
He swung planets into orbit
yet controls it with mathematical precision
He cast Lucifer and legions of angels from His presence
yet invites sinners to know Him intimately
He spoke and the waters of earth made way for dry land
yet he counts the tears of his children
He moves the hearts of the great kings of the earth
yet knows how many hairs are on every person’s head
He is fierce
yet gentle
He burns with anger
yet heals the sick
He knows the heart and ways of the lion and buffalo
yet teaches a bird how to build a nest
His voice sounds like mighty rushing waters
yet His whisper is clear in the silence of the night
He stretches out the sky for the sun to rise
yet wants to live in the hearts of people
His love and power are loud
yet His invitation to mankind is personal
He is strong
and made Himself weak
He is powerful
and became a baby
He gave each man a piece of Himself
and then invites him to give it back
He holds all wisdom
yet offers it as a free will choice
He created man filled with unending capacity
yet trusts him to make it count
He made man wonderfully
yet gave him the power to steward his life
He made man after His image
yet each one is unique
He equipped mankind for life here on earth
yet waits for each one to choose heaven.
You are more connected to heaven than you think. You were created with eternity in your heart from the start.
From time to time, it is more evident and real to you than your physical world. It is God.
